1. Will abdominoplasty tighten up loose skin?
Yes, it removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal skin. During a tummy tuck, you also can perform liposuction to reduce the fat build up in the upper abdomen that is often seen. You can also tighten and flatten the stomach muscles that often bulge after having children.
2. Can the problems come back after abdominoplasty?
With weight gain or having additional children, you can have a recurrence of loose skin.
3. Is a Tummy Tuck a good way to lose weight?
No. But it is perfect for contouring your body after you have lost weight.
4. Can men benefit from a Tummy Tuck?
Yes, after weight loss also.
5. Will I feel pain afterwards?
Yes, the most painful part is the tightening of the stomach muscles but the benefit of having a flatter tummy is worth it.
6. Why do patients seek a tummy tuck?
Because they have lost weight and still can' t fit into their smaller clothes because of the excess abdominal skin that droops over their waist.
7. Is the recovery time different for full and mini tummy tuck?
Yes. A full abdominoplasty which removes excess skin, +/- liposuction, tightening up the stomach muscles and moving the belly button to it' s new, natural position will take upto 2 weeks to recover and go back to work and will probably require drains. A mini tummy tuck only includes removal of a small amount of excess skin, and no tightening of the stomach muscles and no movement of the belly button and therefore the recovery is just a few days.
